" I want to be a fireman " exclaims one young man. A little girl in the back row excitedly calls out " I wanna be a dancer. Millions of children have been asked the question, and millions of responses have been given over decades. " What do you want to do or be when you grow up?" For Clearwater, Florida native Ashlee Kendrick, also known as Pimptress , the answer has always been " to make music and share it with everyone." Since childhood music of many different genres could be heard filling her home with sounds of struggle, experience, love and good times. It would be this foundation, that would become the basis for her decision to pursue a career in writing and singing as a hip-hop performer by the impressionable age of 13. As a teen, Ashlee worked on perfecting her craft for nearly 4 years before being blessed with her first opportunity to become a part of something. In 2001 the independent rap group Absoloot Stress was formed with older brother B1 and 3 other young men. At 17, it meant the world to her to be the first and only female emcee of the group, thus putting her in touch further with studio, stage and artist life and what it encompasses.

After experiencing the "ins and outs" and ups and downs of keeping a group moving forward, in 2008, at age 24 Pimptress decided that it was time for a new musical direction and began embarking on her path of becoming a solo emcee and R&B singer. This little girl whose heart stayed filled with song, would slowly but surely not only introduce herself to her state and country, but in short time become a face familiar to some the Tampa Bay, Florida area's biggest nightclubs. Venues such as: Liquid Blue, Greenbacks, Underground and Club 112, are merely a few of the places in the "Sunshine State" that have opened their doors, stages and ears to the talents of this inspiring young woman. Her passion, drive, skill and focus have taken her from radio sing-alongs at home to gracing and sharing stages with industry heavy names such as Trina, Chingy, Rick Ross and Lil Wayne.

Now in 2017, at age 32, there are no signs of slowing down or looking back for this remarkable artist. Her "Epic Journey" project can be found online on many sites and brand new for the year she has initiated the "Trust Nobody Challenge". Due to seriousness of content and of the response to her single "Trust Nobody" Pimptress created the challenge for all artists worldwide to take the instrumental version of her song and develop a minute rendition of it to explain why they as individuals find hard to trust others and live in an untrustworthy society. Artists may contact her management at Tyeshatalks@gmail.com and obtain a snippet of the track as well as to turn in their finished material. So moved was I by the concept that I opted to create my own version of the challenge for the everyday people of America, where basically I just ask them to give me their thoughts and opinions of why we should or shouldn't trust others today. Once answers are given I gladly direct them to this true-to-life classic and how to contact the ever determined artist. I was blessed to catch up to Pimptress at her Florida home and ask her some meaningful questions. To those reading, I believe that you will find her answers well worth the time of following.
